We are ByteWrite. We design, build and maintain all sorts of web based paraphernalia. When we started 25 years ago, we would have said “we build websites for Australian businesses”.. but now, well, it’s become rather more complicated!
You see, from 2005 or thereabouts, swanky cloud infrastructure became available to the masses. This meant software boffins could finally take their traditional ‘desktop’ software online, letting you use them directly via your web browser (which, back then, was probably ‘Netscape’ or an antique version of Internet Explorer. If you’ve still got them, put them on eBay now – they’re worth a fortune!).
For example, you no longer needed 5 floppy disks or CD’s to install your accounting program, you just browsed to the login screen, and typed in your easy to remember username like ‘Mynameisbill’, and an even easier password like ‘Password123’.
It was an amazing time, no 2 factor authentication or password management. It was free and easy just like the 70’s, but better!
Soon desktop publishing moved online with things like Google Docs etc, then someone told you to sign up for a CRM (Client Relationship Manager) to track leads and stuff, because the perfectly adequate diary at the front desk wasn’t going to cut it anymore. Next came the online project/time management tool, and now you’ve ended up with an online service for pretty much everything!
And now you’ve got to figure out:

And now, AI has entered the room. It’s the latest disruptor, and the pressure to “integrate” is everywhere. But unlike the tools that came before, there’s no clear manual for where it fits into your specific workflow, let alone how it’s supposed to live on your website. It feels like another wave of tech you’re told you need, without being told how to actually use it.
The problem is, these technologies are a bit like hormonal teenagers.. they are poor communicators. They need a nudge, and a warm hug to encourage them to reach out.. which is where we come in!
